On the cusp of retirement and with grand children visiting regularly our client’s well loved Canberra home was due for an update with purposeful and beautiful spaces for long term enjoyment. Following a kitchen renovation the formal living room and “dining” room were due for their own update and the family meals area needed those finishing touches that are necessary after a renovation. Our clients love to travel and had a book load of classic style inspiration photos for the project.

Decisions about how to use existing spaces to accommodate grand children and quiet grown up spaces whilst making the most of some lovely existing furniture pieces.

We proposed that the Dining room be converted to a walk through with study based highlighting our clients existing desk and providing a view to the garden and complimentary cabinet to complete the space. We advocated to keep the existing book case and delightful glass door dividers. Several furniture layout were explored for the grown up living room.

New carpet and paint were selected then installed. Window treatments were designed and supplied by Journey Home to tie together the new kitchen meals and new formal areas. Good furniture pieces were reupholstered and we supplied complimentary new furniture, rugs, lamps etc that completed the inviting and comfortable rooms.

Our clients are now using their “formal” living room as a grown up space a lot more often than they used to and enjoying warm nights by the revamped fire place.
