Deakin classic bedroom

The motivation:

After years of collecting furniture and living in different homes on oversea postings it was time to consolidate and decorate their bedroom for the long term at last.    The windows above the bed were out of alignment with the symmetry of the room which created a problem for our new home owner to solve.  The large scale of the room left if feeling bare and a little cold.  Hence the call for a decorator.   Our well travelled lady of the house loved design books and interiors magazines and her style is classic.

The fix:

An audit of the existing furnishings was our starting point and we recommended some pieces be repurposed in other smaller bedrooms.   Our client had not been using the dated ceiling fan and agreed to our suggestion for a new decorative pendant light.  The large room was drawn and we filled the room layout with new furnishings that offered a better scale to fill the room, hence making it feel comfortable.

We used the placement of the new curtains to solve the problem of the out of alignment window.  I remembered an armoire that I had seen in a supplier warehouse and it was perfect to house and hide the TV and extensive scarf collection. The favourite find for the room was the elegant curtain fabric which draped beautifully on install day  Bedside tables and lamps were imported from the USA.
